Interview: Bre Williams of Toss’t and Press’t
It’s all about freshness, juiciness, and made-to-order goodness every time. We don’t believe in letting anything sit in a steam tray at Toss’t and Press’t, says Bre Williams, the educator turned entrepreneur behind the salad and sandwich shop. Nestled at 5 E. Prospect Avenue in Mount Vernon, NY, Toss’t and Press’t debuted in 2022 when
Williams decided to act on her cravings – literally.
“I found myself wanting a salad because I love vegetables. And I had to drive outside of my community and go 20 minutes to Mamaroneck,” recalls Williams. She says even after driving twenty-five minutes to get the salad, it still wouldn’t be to her taste palate so she took matters into her own hands.
Now a beloved community staple in its second year, the shop is renowned for its hot, juicy salads and refreshing Blue Nile lemonade, which includes real lime, passion fruit, pineapples, and nutrient-rich blue spalina. “Our Blue Nile lemonade isn’t just a drink; it’s packed with omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids from ingredients like blue spalina, similar to sea moss. Everything we serve is intentional; everything you consume should have a purpose,” emphasizes Williams.
Alongside its signature salads and sandwiches, Toss’t and Press’t offers creative spins on the classic bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich. The “B.E.C. from Cali” is a healthier option with turkey bacon, eggs, spring mix and avocado. Beyond their delicious offerings, Toss’t and Press’t also provides meal prep services to cater to their customers’ needs.
