The Bomb Fashion Show 2025 at NYFW: Style & Black Excellence

The Bomb Fashion Show 2025 ignited New York Fashion Week with a dazzling display of multicultural talent and star-studded flair. The annual event was held in Brooklyn at Hotel Indigo Williamsburg’s Willow Hall on September 12 and showcased black-and-white-themed looks from both emerging and established designers, blending style, music, and culture in one unforgettable night.

Claire Sulmers, the visionary behind the show and Fashion Bomb Daily, spoke with Rooting for Everybody Black about the inspiration for the black-and-white theme: “I wanted it to feel uniform and elevated. I was inspired by the party scene with Grace Jones in Boomerang. Black and white is chic. It’s classic, stylish, and speaks to Black excellence.”

Sulmers partnered with fashion designer and architect Misa Hylton, credited with shaping the look of hip-hop and R&B in the ’90s and beyond, to put on an iconic show. Brands like FGM Bespoke, Le’Antoinette, and Aakofii were amongst the fourteen participating designers. The night also featured live performances, with Madison Star energizing the crowd during intermission and Lizzen bringing the show to a powerful close.

Actress Meagan Good co-hosted the annual event, joined by Real Housewives of Dubai star Lesa Milan as emcee. When it comes to Meagan’s personal style, she says “A bit of vintage, a little tomboy, a little rock star—but always me.”

Former America’s Next Top Model Cycle 3 winner and All the Queens Men actress, Eva Marcille, wore Moschino and reflected on fashion’s evolution over two decades in New York. “My first year of fashion week was 2005…this is when we were still in Bryant Park. This is when we still had Fashion’s Night Out,” recalls Marcille in an interview with Rooting for Everybody Black.

Culinary excellence was part of the mix, with Aliya Brooklyn’s chef Scotley Innis elevating the evening’s food: “We’re setting the bar, raising the standards in our culture. I’m Jamaican, so I have to represent,” and elevate the cuisine to a whole new level.

Real Housewives of Potomac’s Ashley Boalch Darby wore a form-fitting black dress by designer LaQuan Smith and says The Bomb Fashion Show is where she learns about a lot of designers that she isn’t privy to. “It’s my favorite night, Fashion Bomb Daily is my favorite [show],” says the reality star. Television personality, actress and entrepreneur Yandy Smith-Harris also wore a dress designed by a Black-owned business owner named Devon Black. “I wanted to make sure I supported him. He’s doing really big things in Atlanta. And, this is part of his black and white collection.”

Music and fashion collided seamlessly. Honey Bxby revealed that her music inspires her fashion choices, saying in part, “Whatever I’m going through inspires what I wear.” R&B singer Kem wore a sleek Alexander McQueen and Saint Laurent look and shared that he has a new single out: Rock With Me. “It’s a love letter to my wife,” says Kem.

Trailblazers like Tiffany Hainesworth, a Washington D.C. native who made history in 2019 as the first Black woman to solely own a tequila brand, were among the event’s sponsors. TCapri Tequila stands out not just as a Black- and woman-owned brand, but also for being 100% Blue Weber agave, Kosher-certified, and completely free of additives. Hainesworth didn’t hesitate to sponsor the show because of her relationship with Sulmers. “She actually wrote one of my first articles when I made history. So of course, I’m going to do anything for Claire. It’s amazing. I’m happy to be here.”

Legendary singer Coko of SWV walked the carpet, offering her fashion advice: “Just wear whatever makes you feel good.” She also praised her son, Jayye Michael, who appeared in the show.

From avant-garde collections to live performances and star-studded style, The Bomb Fashion Show 2025 was a true celebration of creativity, culture, and community. A night where fashion and Black creativity shone at their brightest.
